Thank you, Mr. President,

The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the high-level delegation of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and thanks them for their active participation in the 4th cycle of the UPR.

Iran highly values the national efforts undertaken by the Lao People's Democratic Republic in the promotion and protection of human rights, inter alia the adoption or amendment of 73 laws by the National Assembly.

We also commend Laos for its continuous efforts in achieving steady economic recovery and GDP growth.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iran offers the following recommendations to the Lao People's Democratic Republic:

First, continue its endeavors in combating human trafficking, especially through enhancing regional cooperation;

Second, further explore South-South cooperation in the process of graduation from LDC status, especially those collective efforts related to the realization of the right to development;

Third, ensure the full implementation of the seven health-related laws adopted since 2021 to fully realize the right to health for all citizens, especially those in rural areas.

The Islamic Republic of Iran wishes the Lao People's Democratic Republic every success in the Universal Periodic Review.
