بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

Thank you Mr. President,

The Islamic Republic of Iran acknowledges the efforts of the Government of San Marino in promoting and protecting human rights, particularly in addressing discrimination and advancing equality. These initiatives and legislative measures deserve recognition.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iran highlights areas where San Marino’s human rights framework could further align with international standards and offers the following four recommendations:

  1. To establish a comprehensive anti-discrimination legislative framework that explicitly includes protections based on skin color and religion, particularly for Muslims, and to ensure awareness of remedial legislation and procedures available to victims of discrimination;
  2. To sustain and enhance measures that guarantee all citizens of San Marino access to healthcare, education, and necessary social protections, while ensuring the effectiveness of policies and initiatives addressing the negative impacts of climate change;
  3. To reform the criminal justice system to provide detainees improved access to the outside world;
  4. To address gaps in mental health services by establishing an inpatient facility for involuntary psychiatric hospitalization, in accordance with prior recommendations and the specific needs of affected individuals.

Thank you, Mr. President.
