Item 6: Adoption of the final outcomes of the reviews of Germany

Thank you Mr. President,
While Germany's participation in the Universal Periodic Review mechanism is noted positively, serious concerns persist regarding the human rights situation within Germany, particularly in its foreign policy approaches.
Germany's continued support for perpetrators of crimes committed against Palestinians and its alignment with the perpetrators of such atrocities represent Germany's double standard, biased, and politicized approach towards human rights.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has expressed serious concern about Germany's support for the occupying power, resulting in exacerbating the dire humanitarian and human rights situation in Palestine, stemming from more than 75 years of occupation by the occupying forces.
During the forty-fourth session of the UPR on November 9th, 2023, the German delegation stated in its report to the Council that it recognizes Israel's right to self-defense. However, according to international law, such a right does not exist for occupying forces. This indicates Germany's incorrect understanding of human rights.
This misguided understanding, rooted in power dynamics within Germany's foreign policy, has led to a thoroughly politicized and biased approach to various human rights situations. Consequently, the foreign policy of this country is characterized by a heavy dominance of a double-standard approach. The Islamic Republic of Iran urges Canada to diligently implement recommendations to improvements in the human rights approaches in its foreign policy.
I thank you, Mr. President.
