بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

Excellencies: Dear Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives,

Dear directors, experts and staffers of the UNOG and other international organizations,

Dear colleagues and friends,

Honoured guests,

Ladies and Gentlemen

Good afternoon and welcome to this cultural event to commemorate a century of Iran’s multilateralism alongside a captivating live performance of the Iranian music.

First of all, I am delighted to express my sincere thanks to Ms. Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office in Geneva, for her inspiring remarks and to the heads of Institutional Memory and Cultural Diplomacy for all efforts they have done in organization of this event.

Among its 200 years of the history of the Iranian ministry of foreign affairs, Iran’s record on multilateralism engaging with the international mechanisms including League of Nations and United Nations is amounting to 100 years. Alongside the Archives of the UN Office in Geneva, through this exhibition, we have tried to illustrate a few evidence showcasing Iran’s long-standing commitment and international responsibility since the negotiations on the creation of League of Nations to now.

In this exhibition we are witnessing a couple of documents and pictures from the statement delivered by Iran's representative regarding the improvement of Asian States’ participation in the Council of League of Nations in 1922 as the first article to a few images from 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Tehran in 2012. I am so delighted to invite you to pay attention to the decree issued by the Governor of Kerman and Baluchistan (South- East Iran) to protect workers in the carpet factories in accordance with the Islamic Principles and International Labor Conventions in 1923 which showcasing the long-lasting Iranian adherence to the fundamental human principles and values.

The spirit of multilateralism calls music to mind in which underscores the importance of collaboration, mutual understanding, and solidarity in addressing complex global challenges. Music emphasizes the value of cultural exchange and the recognition of the interconnectedness of humanity, ultimately promoting a more peaceful, inclusive, and harmonious world. Music embodies the power of harmony, collaboration, and unity across diverse cultures and societies. It has a universal language that transcends borders, languages, and ideologies, making it an ideal medium for fostering understanding and cooperation among nations.

I feel oblige to seize the opportunity to pay tribute to the Iranian vibrant culture which is reflected in its unique Music. You will enjoy in this event the lively performance of the Iranian music composed by the mesmerizing melodies of the Santoor (by Mr. Behdad Kiafar), Kamancheh (by Ms. Sahar Darvish), Tar (Mr. Hossein Ruzbahani), Oud (by Mr. Mohammad Jozi), Daf (by Ms. Maral Ghasemi), Ney (by Mr. Mohamad Moshfegh) and Tombak (by Mr. Hasan Azadfar), as a part of traditional Iranian instruments known for their enchanting sound, which will be brought to life by the Iranian accomplished ensemble, HOOR.

In this performance you will indulge in the fine singing made by Seyed Mohsen Hosseini featuring the local and folklore poems.

To conclude, once again I have to express my heartfelt thanks to you for joining us to safeguard and bolster multilateralism through referring to the history of peace and constructiveness while paying tribute to the harmonic spirit of culture and music.

Thank you for your attention.
