The city of Maragheh is located 135 kilometers southwest of East Azarbaijan province, in the eastern part of Lake Urmia, on the southern slope of Mount Sahand, along the Sufi Chai River and at an altitude of 1477.7 meters above sea level. The Maragheh Moraleh climate is cold and fairly humid. The city of Maragheh has two parts: "Central" and "Serjou", two cities and six villages. This city is one of the most important cities in the province of Azerbaijan and the second largest city in the province after Tabriz. Maragheh is also the second most ancient city in the Azeri area after Urmia. Due to its historical and cultural attractions such as Maragheh Observatory, Maragheh Red Dome, Gonbad and natural attractions such as Pigeon Cave, Lake Alavian Dam, Peaks and Springs, it is one of the Top Ten Top Cities of Iran in terms of tourist attractions. Maragheh is considered one of the important agricultural centers in terms of its geographical position. Major industrial and industrial activities in the city include the production of products such as raisins, dried fruits, honey, dairy products, dermatology, handicrafts, fine silk carpets, maraghe soap dippers, glassware, and so on. The city has a good place in terms of land, rail and air communication. The main language of the people of Maragheh, like other Azerbaijani residents, is Azeri Turkish. Most people in this Muslim city have a Shiite religion.
