Mr. President,

All citizens of a country should participate in decision-making processes, and mechanisms should be put in place to maximize their involvement in policy-making and political, developmental, cultural, and social planning.

In this regard, the primary responsibility for protecting and promoting their human rights lies with the States.

It goes without saying that all individuals, equally entitled to the support and backing of the law, should also be equal before the law.

No form of affiliation should provide immunity against law enforcement and accountability for unlawful actions.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to its international obligations to promote and protect all human rights for all its citizens, regardless of their religion or ethnicity.

Iranian ethnic groups and religious minorities have deep roots spanning thousands of years in the land of Iran,

Iran's constitution recognizes the rights of ethnic and religious minorities, including Armenians, Assyrians, Jews, and Zoroastrians, to practice their faith and language.

Seats in the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) are reserved for these communities, allowing them representation in the decision-making process.

The government has also established cultural institutions and organizations to preserve and promote the heritage of Iranian ethnic and religious minorities.

Additionaly in recent years, various initiatives have been undertaken to increase their representation in government bodies, educational institutions, and the workforce.
