Note Verbal on the heart-wrenching terrorist attack that spearheaded on 3rd January 2024 in Kerman city in Iran

The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva would like to draw the attention of the latter to the heart-wrenching terrorist attack that spearheaded on 3rd January 2024 in Kerman city in Iran claiming near 100 of lives and hundreds of injuries.

  

The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva presents its compliments to all Permanent Missions and Permanent Observer Missions to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, and would like to draw the attention of the latter to the heart-wrenching terrorist attack that spearheaded on 3rd January 2024 in Kerman city in Iran, claiming near 100 of lives and hundreds of injuries. This reprehensible terrorist attack mounted inside a procession of innocent people including women and children who were commemorating the 4th martyrdom anniversary of the Iran’s terrorist combatant hero, General Soleimani.   

Today is announced a day of national mourning in Iran to commemorate the innocent men, women and children who fell victim to that notorious terrorist attack. We strongly condemn that coward act of terror and indeed each and every act of terrorism, wherever and by whosoever is committed. The perpetrators and organizers of acts of terrorism must be brought to justice. 

Comprehensive investigations are currently underway to identify and apprehend the organizing actors behind this premeditated and appalling crime. Concurrently, the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to leverage all available mechanisms to ensure accountability for those responsible and their accomplices in this heinous terrorist act. 

During recent years, Iran has been subject to some destabilizing incidents originated and orchestrated by foreign elements. Standing strongly before such pressures, the Islamic Republic of Iran has paid a lot to maintain its security inside and clear its neighborhoods from the scourge of terrorism.  Iran is determined more than ever to stand against violent extremism and terrorism by redoubling its efforts to safeguard its borders and protect its citizens from the scourge of terrorism.

 The Islamic Republic of Iran calls upon all member States, to shoulder their responsibility in combating terrorism, in the same vein expects all states to condemn this abhorrent act of terrorism.

The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran avails itself of this opportunity to renew to all permanent mission in Geneva the assurances of its highest consideration.
