Statement by Ms.Farzaneh Bani Asad Azad before 50th Session of the UPR Working Group - Review of the Panama

Statement  by   Ms.Farzaneh Bani Asad Azad  Representative of the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva  before   50th Session of the UPR Working Group Review of the Panama Geneva, 5 November 2025 ***** بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم Mr. President, Iran welcomes the engagement of Panama’s delegation in the UPR process. At the same time, Iran remains deeply concerned about the overall human rights situation in Panama and recommends that: First, Strengthen judicial independence and ensure fair, timely proceedings to combat corruption and impunity, guaranteeing equal access to justice. Second, Improve detention and prison conditions in line with international standards, ensuring humane treatment of all detainees. Third, Prevent and address violence against women and girls and strengthen measures against human trafficking. Forth, Protect Indigenous peoples’ territorial rights and ensure their free, prior, and informed consent in development projects. Iran wishes Panama a successful UPR review. Thank you ----
