Statement  by  Ms. Somayyeh Karimdoost Representative of the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva before  50th Session of the UPR Working Group Review of the Republic of Maldives  Geneva, 5 November 2025 *****  بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم Mr. President, The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the distinguished high-level delegation of the Republic of Maldives to this fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review and expresses appreciation for its comprehensive national report and presentation. The Islamic Republic of Iran commends the Maldives for its ongoing efforts to enhance labor conditions, notably through the establishment of a labor-management information system and the review of the national minimum wage framework. In a constructive spirit, the Islamic Republic of Iran is pleased to offer two recommendations to the Republic of Maldives: First: to further explore avenues for the promotion and realization of the right to development, including through strengthened South-South cooperation and effective implementation of the Declaration on the Right to Development; Second: to play an active and constructive role in enriching international human rights normative frameworks, by drawing upon its cultural diversity and sharing its national best practices and experiences. The Islamic Republic of Iran extends its best wishes to the Republic of Maldives for the successful implementation of these recommendations and for its continued progress in the promotion and protection of human rights.
