Statement by Ms. Farzaneh Bani Asad Azad before 50th Session of the UPR Working Group - Review of Bulgaria
Geneva - 6 November 2025
Statement by Ms. Farzaneh Bani Asad Azad Representative of the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva before 50th Session of the UPR Working Group Review of Bulgaria Geneva, 6 November 2025 ***** بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم Mr. President, Iran welcomes the delegation of Bulgaria to the UPR process. While acknowledging the efforts made by Bulgaria, we remain concerned about discrimination against Roma communities, rising human trafficking, and challenges faced by migrants and asylum-seekers. In this context, Iran respectfully recommends that Bulgaria: Adopt comprehensive measures to combat human trafficking and protect victims. Eliminate social and economic discrimination against Roma communities, particularly in education and housing. Ensure humane treatment and due process for migrants and asylum-seekers. We wish Bulgaria success in its UPR process. Thank you ----
