Closing Remarks by H.E. Mr. Ali BAHREINI before IRAN’s Event on the sidelines of HRC60
Geneva-12 September 2025
Closing Remarks  By  H.E. Mr. Ali BAHREINI  Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva  Before  IRAN’s Side Event: Human Rights Dimensions of Twelve Days of Aggression Against the Islamic Republic of Iran by Israeli Regime and The United States  Geneva, 12 September 2025  ****** بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم   Excellencies, distinguished colleagues, ladies and gentlemen, As we conclude this side event, we wish to emphasize the urgent need to uphold international law and human rights in the face of unlawful aggression. Over the past 12 days, Iran has faced unprovoked attacks that deliberately targeted civilians, critical infrastructure, and humanitarian personnel. These actions constitute clear violations of the UN Charter, international humanitarian law, and basic human rights principles. We are grateful to our distinguished panelists for sharing their expertise and perspectives. Their contributions have highlighted the importance of accountability, justice, and the protection of civilians during conflicts. We also acknowledge the voices of victims and survivors, whose experiences remind us of the human cost of aggression and the imperative to prevent further suffering. This discussion has reinforced that the defense of sovereignty and national security is compatible with respecting human rights. Iran’s response to aggression demonstrates a commitment to protecting its people while striving to ensure humanitarian needs are met under difficult circumstances. It also illustrates the universal duty of all states to act responsibly and prevent violations of international law. Finally, this panel has underlined the necessity of international cooperation to prevent future unlawful acts, support victims, and uphold the dignity of all individuals. We hope that today’s dialogue will contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen human rights protections and ensure accountability for violations, and that it will inspire concrete actions to prevent similar crises in the future. Thank you all for your engagement and for joining us in this vital discussion. ----
