Statement  By Ms. Farzaneh Bani Asad Azad Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran Before  49th Session of the UPR Working Group Review of the Lesotho Geneva, 30 April 2025  **** بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم Thank you, Mr. Vice President, The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes Lesotho delegation and thanks them for presenting their national report. We recognize the efforts of the Government of Lesotho to promote and protect the human rights of its people, especially their economic, social, and cultural rights, as reflected in the national report submitted to this session. In the spirit of constructive engagement, we recommend Lesotho to: One: TO facilitate access to social protection schemes for disadvantaged women, Two: Prioritizes the increase of investment in education, particularly in rural and marginalized areas, Tree: Take appropriate measures to ensure that the rights of children are respected, including by prohibiting all forms of corporal punishment in education system and improving conditions of access to education.
