Statement  By Ms. Farzaneh Bani Asad Azad Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran  Before 48th Session of the UPR Working Group Review of El Salvador Geneva, 20 January 2025 ------ بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم Mr. President, My delegation welcomes the delegation of El Salvador and thanks for the presentation. Iran takes note of the positive steps taken by the government of El Salvador regarding the recommendations from the last cycle, Meanwhile, we are concerned on the intensified situation of women in this country that doesn’t comply with the national and international commitments of El Salvador.  Women often lack access to justice and face considerable barriers when seeking protection from violence. Considering current severe human rights crisis in El Salvador, marked by widespread violations under the government's ongoing state of emergency, and its consequences like mass arbitrary detentions, torture, inhumane treatment among all,  We recommend that El Salvador: Pays full attention to international appeals and stops to institutionalize human rights abuses. Maintain vigilance and utilize all available resources to halt abuses in the country, especially towards women’s human rights. Establish robust institutions to assist victims of crime and human rights abuses, which are essential for effective citizen security. I thank you. ---
