--------------------- Statement By Ms. Somayyeh Karimdoost Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran Before 47th Session of the UPR Working GroupReview of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Geneva, 7 November 2024 بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم Mr. Vice President, My delegation warmly welcomes the delegation of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and its constructive engagement with the UPR process. The Islamic Republic of Iran hails Democratic People’s Republic of Korea 's prominent commitment to multilateralism and its consistent and tireless efforts in upholding human rights and engaging with human rights mechanisms. In spite of being under severe unfair UCMs that has considerably endangered the ability of government for fulfilling its obligations, policies and achievements of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in promotion, protection and realization of all human rights of its citizens is remarkable. For sure, such willingness from DPRK officials if complimented by removal of sanctions, could result in a much better situation especially in economic, social, and cultural spheres. In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iran offers the following recommendations to Democratic People’s Republic of Korea: Continuing investment in the public health system Continuing to take effective measures to enhance the quality of education for all school-age children Continue its efforts to combat trafficking in person Iran wishes Democratic People’s Republic of Korea a successful review.
