Statement By Ms. Somayeh Karimdoost Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran Before 46th Session of the UPR Working Group Review of Viet Nam Geneva, 7 May 2024     Mr. President,            The Islamic Republic of Iran thanks the delegation of Viet Nam headed by H.E. Mr. Do Hung Viet, Deputy Foreign Minister for its UPR report and commends their full engagement with UPR mechanism.            Iran acknowledges numerous improvements made by Viet Nam for realization of socio-economic development, especially through implementing related national strategies and plans. We observe the positive impact of these plans on development of human resources and improving quality of life for the poor and people living in remote areas.           In a spirit of constructive cooperation, we therefore recommend Viet Nam to:           One, Improve the quality of healthcare services for the elderly.           Second, take further measures to enhance access to legal services, ensuring compliance with criminal proceedings and the right to counsel.            Finally, we wish Viet Nam a successful review.           Thank you, Mr. President.
