Item 7: General Debate on the human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories
What is happening today in Palestine goes beyond all the atrocities that have occurred throughout history surpassing even the genocides that have taken place in previous cases.
Statement By H.E. Mr. Ali Bahraini Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran To the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva Before The Human Rights Council 55th Session Item 7: General Debate on the human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories Geneva, 27 March 2024 بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم Mr. Vice-President, What is happening today in Palestine goes beyond all the atrocities that have occurred throughout history, surpassing even the genocides that have taken place in previous cases. The occupying forces are not content with just of occupation of lands of Palestinians, but going further to occupy the lands of neighboring countries to create a security buffer zone for themselves. Additionally, they have no any shame to committing of any crime to eliminate any notion of resistance and resilience against occupation. Everything mentioned above is just a tiny fraction of the crimes that have occurred over the past 75 years in order to legitimize something that is the negative legacy of colonialism in West Asia. The occupation will never get legitimacy, and what has been created will never take on the sacred name of neighborliness as long as it is based on occupation, genocide and apartheid. If there truly is a will and sincerity to end the genocide by occupying forces in Palestine, then the occupation must end, and Palestinians should be able to have their own State across all their lands and the occupying of the lands of other neighboring countries to Palestine should also come to an end. Thank you, Mr. Vice President.
