Iran's Statement on Agenda item 6: Adoption of the final outcomes of the reviews of the Canada
Canadas continued support for crimes committed against Palestinians and its alignment with the perpetrators of these crimes indicate that concerns regarding the human rights implications of such an approach are warranted.
Statement By Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran Before The Human Rights Council 55th Session Agenda item 6: Adoption of the final outcomes of the reviews of the Canada Geneva, 25 March 2024 بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم Thank you Mr. President, While Canada's participation in the Universal Periodic Review mechanism can be positively highlighted as the prominent aspect of this mechanism, namely its universality, concerns persist regarding the human rights situation within the country, particularly its foreign policy approaches. Canada's continued support for crimes committed against Palestinians and its alignment with the perpetrators of these crimes indicate that concerns regarding the human rights implications of such an approach are warranted. The continuation of imposing and adhering to unilateral coercive measures against sanctioned countries, resulting in blatant violations of the human rights of the people of these countries, and the failure to bring about transformation and improvement in the situation of indigenous peoples within Canada, especially concerning past crimes against them and the accountability of the government for these crimes, are among other concerning aspects concerning human rights in Canada. The Islamic Republic of Iran urges Canada to diligently implement accepted recommendations to facilitate improvements in the human rights situation in the country, especially economic, social, and cultural rights of Canadians, as well as to prompt the review of some inhumane approaches in its foreign policy. I thank you, Mr. President.
