Iran#39s Statement on Item 6: Adoption of the final outcomes of the reviews of Cuba
Despite decades of unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States without any justifiable reason and in an unfair manner Cuba has demonstrated that it remains willing to engage with the global community and play a positive and constructive role in international interactions.
Statement By H.E. Mr. Ali Bahreini Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Gemneva Before The Human Rights Council 55th Session Item 6: Adoption of the final outcomes of the reviews of Cuba Geneva, 26 March 2024 بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم Thank you Mr. President, Cuba's approach of accepting a very high percentage of recommendations made to the country reflects its wholly constructive view of the UPR mechanism. Cuba has a long history of playing a positive role in the structure of multilateralism and has always put forth respectable ideas and initiatives on global and international issues. Despite decades of unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States without any justifiable reason and in an unfair manner, Cuba has demonstrated that it remains willing to engage with the global community and play a positive and constructive role in international interactions. We commend Cuba's efforts, best practices, determination, and progress in promoting and protecting the human rights of its people, especially economic, social, and cultural rights. We believe that the scientific experiences and achievements of this country, especially in the field of medicine, can be shared with other countries worldwide, particularly developing and Global South. We wish Cuba success in implementing the recommendations it has accepted, and we are confident that doing so can propel Cuba further toward the development and well-being of its citizens than ever before. We recommend that the Council adopts the report of Cuba by consensus. I thank you, Mr. President.
