Statement By   Somayye Karimdoost Representative of The Islamic Republic of Iran   Before The Human Rights Council 55th  Session   Item 2: ID on HC report on Myanmar   Geneva, 1 March 2024 بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم   Mr.  President,   We thank the High Comissioner for his oral reprt.      ‏The Rohingya minority of Myanmar has, over generations, been subjected to institutionalized persecution, denial of identity and extreme discrimination. These grave violation of human rights of Rohingya muslims have created a cycle of marginalization and led to serious violations of human rights of Rohingya Muslims that may amount to international crimes, including mass forced displacement. The increasing number of “attempted dangerous sea journeys”  by Rohingya people to other countries, proves the untolerable level of their livelihool and security.   Regarding the current situation we expect the athurities in Myanmar to:   Address root causes of discrimination and human rights violations against ethnic and religious minorities in Myanmar and ensure accountability for serious crimes committed,   Undertake meaningfull efforts to ensure that legal accountability at the national level is ongoing, this can prevent impunity and future repeteation of crimes.   Take considerable legistlative measures to redress decades of persecution and systematic discrimination against Rohingya muslims; and   Ensure full, safe and unimpeded humanitarian access to Rakhine State,   In conclustion, we ask the international community to assist the host countries of Rohingya refugees like Bangladesh; and boost their supportive efforts for the improvement of refugee camps.   I thank you
