Statement By Mrs. Zahra Seddigh Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran Before The UPR Working Group 45th Session Review of Nigeria Geneva, 23 January 2024   بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم   Mr. President, The Islamic Republic of Iran extends a warm welcome to the high-level delegation of Nigeria and thanks them for the presentation of their national report. We appreciate Nigeria’s efforts to improve the living standards of its people despite the post-pandemic challenges. In this regard, Nigeria’s 10-year National Housing Strategy Plan is commended. We also welcome the 10 areas of the Ministerial Strategic Plan for improving the quality of education in the country. In a constructive spirit, Iran offers the following two recommendations to Nigeria: continue its efforts to provide free, compulsory and universal basic education for every child, continue its efforts to establish an inclusive and reliable social protection system with a special focus on family-oriented policies. Finally, Iran wishes Nigeria every success in its 4th cycle of review. I thank you Mr. President.
