 Statement By Ms. Zahra Seddigh Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran Before The Human Rights Council 52nd Session   Item 3: Interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief   Geneva, 14 March 2023   بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم Mr. Vice President, The Islamic Republic of Iran associates itself with statement delivered by Pakistan on behalf of the OIC. Discrimination and negative stereotyping based on religion are unacceptable in any form. It is vital to address this issue globally to ensure that everyone can practice their religion without fear of persecution or prejudice. It is only by standing together and embracing diversity that we can create a world where people of all religions are treated with respect and dignity. The surge in crimes related to religious defamation and religious-based discrimination is particularly alarming. The international community should shoulder the responsibility to refrain from exacerbating religious animosity and to avoid the expression of anti-religious views. It is our collective responsibility to work together to promote tolerance, understanding, and respect for diversity, and create an environment in which individuals can freely practice their religion without fear of discrimination, persecution, or violence. The right to freedom of religion must be respected and protected for all. we should all work towards promoting religious tolerance and respect. We must embrace diversity and recognize the value of different cultures and religions. By doing so, we can create a world where everyone is treated equally, regardless of their religion. Mr. Vice President, The rise of Islamophobia in recent years is a cause for concern, and it is crucial to take steps to reverse this trend. Education and awareness can play a significant role in challenging negative stereotypes and promoting tolerance and understanding. We call Madam SR to condemn Islamophobic acts, including burning of the Holy Quran.   I thank you, Mr. Vice President;
